Sunday Jan 8th

Yesterday we talked about not having a big enough vision for what God can do with the gifts He has placed within us. Today think about this, if God’s vision for who we are is that much bigger than we expected, then what else could God be doing in your life that is bigger than you could possibly imagine? Go ahead, brainstorm some things that God could do in your life!

Now read Acts 10:9-22 and journal your thoughts

Was your first thought about food? This is one of those verses that we use to justify not sticking to Jewish kosher laws, which is fine and true. We are not arguing kosher, but it’s so easy to miss the bigger picture. Re-read the verses, what was Peter’s vision for his purpose? In other words what does he think his mission or purpose is? Note it’s not obvious you have to read between the lines a bit.

Did you figure it out? Peter’s vision was limited to Israel! God had something much bigger in mind for Peter. God is essentially telling Peter, why stop with Israel? The world needs you and the same is true for us! The life that God is calling us to live will take us to unexpected places, and you will see things you never thought you’d see. But you have to be willing to go beyond your vision.

Today pray that God would give you eyes to see beyond the things that you see, and the faith to actually go there.
