January 18th 2012

Wed Jan 18th

Are you fully present in the present?

Read Luke 24:13-35 and journal your thoughts

While amazing and exciting, this story holds a bit of a tragic message doesn’t it? Here are two disciples of Jesus, people who studied Jesus, who spent all of their time trying to be just like him. Trying to walk, talk, and act just like him. Now this person that they’re trying to emulate comes and walked with them and talked with them, and it’s not until he feeds them that they recognize him, and then he disappears. Have you ever felt like the disciples in this story, so distracted by something that you totally missed what was going on around you?

When we allow ourselves to get distracted by our circumstances we tend to miss what’s happening right now. This is absolutely crucial when it comes to following Jesus and living an abundant life. Are you fully present in the present? Or are you constantly thinking about something else? When we allow ourselves to be distracted, we miss our purpose and what God is doing around us

Today pray that God would remove distractions from your life, and that you could focus on what God is doing around you today.
