“You are too concerned with what was and with what will be. Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.” – Master Oogway (Kung Fu Panda)

Read Isaiah 43:18-19 and journal your thoughts

Sometimes as we try to get past the things that are in our past we tend to stop there, as if moving beyond our past is enough. But in this verse, we see God pushing us beyond our past into something new that He is doing right now. Problem is if we are not looking for it we are going to miss it. Has there been a time in your life when you missed something that God was doing because you weren’t looking for it?

Verse 19 talks about how God is promising not only to do something, but to do something new. God is going to do something with you that you never saw coming. What is particularly important to note in this verse is when God talks about the “wilderness” and “desert” that these are images of the hard times of live. You see the “wilderness” and “desert” being used to describe their wandering for 40 years. Maybe you are stuck in a hard time right now, maybe you feel like you are in the wilderness of your life. God is telling you to be ready, because he is going to make a path out of that wilderness. He is going to make a stream of water to bring life into that desert. He is going to do something totally new. So forget about the past and get ready.

Today pray that God will help you to see what He is beginning to do in your life around you
